Nintendo’s President, Shuntaro Furukawa Confirmed the Rumor about their Upcoming Console

"As for the transition from Nintendo Switch to the next generation machine, we want to do as much as possible to smoothly transition our customers, while utilizing the Nintendo Account." - Furukawa.

Several media outlets reported that Nintendo was working on an upcoming console. Furukawa’s comment confirms them.

About Nintendo: Nintendo is a Japanese company that publishes and develops video games and video game consoles. The company is popular for Super Mario and Gameboy.

Since its creation, Nintendo has produced numerous game consoles: the Game Boy, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo DS, Wii, and the latest one, Switch.

Nintendo has been rumored to release an upcoming console. Which is said to be a portable one and accommodates cartridge games with an LCD screen (made by Sharp).

Bloomberg - Sharp Corp. on Thursday revealed it was supplying liquid crystal displays for an “upcoming” gaming console. This could spur speculation that Nintendo Co. is updating its popular but ageing Switch.

VGC - According to multiple people with knowledge of Nintendo’s next-gen console plans, the company is likely to release new hardware during the second half of 2024, to ensure ample stock available on day one.

Amidst the rumors; Shuntaro Furukawa said: "As for the transition from Nintendo Switch to the next generation machine, we want to do as much as possible in order to smoothly transition our customers while utilizing the Nintendo Account." This comment was made in a Q&A session with the company’s investors.

Furukawa’s comment confirms the rumor.
